Current Developments
This is an exciting time for Trotwood. We have begun a revitalization of our central business district that will spread out in a wave of renovation and redevelopment affecting the Salem Avenue corridor initially, but then providing the impetus for continual redevelopment in areas like Olde Town and other neighborhoods in Trotwood.
- Major Redevelopment projects currently underway -
The Landmark: This mixed use development will combine some of our exising retail assets with new retail (approximately 40 retailers including grocery), a 14 screen cinema, restaurants, office space, a college campus, new library and the government center. The Landmark represents the core of Trotwood's business district revitalization. The Landmark is a 900,000 square foot open-air center created and developed as a joint partnership between the City of Trotwood and General Growth Properties. It will be the lifeline of activity and retail sales on the Northwest side of Dayton, Ohio. Shoppers will experience the ambiance and safety of a luxury retail center, but in a “neighborhub” setting. Across Shiloh Springs Road from the Landmark site the city of Trotwood has acquired over 20 acres adjacent to Route 49. The city has removed several underused buildings on the site and it is now an ideal location for a large chain store location with multiple out-lots. The combined traffic counts at that corner of Shiloh Springs and Route 49 are among the highest in the community. |
Former Builders Square site: Evidence of the impact of The Landmark is shown in the purchase of the former Builders Square site with plans for new retail and additional out-lot buildings. |
New Fire Station: Groundbreaking ceremonies were held September 07, 2006 for the newest fire station in Trotwood. This 5-bay state of the art station will improve response times and serve as a training site for firefighters. |
Former Kontiki Site: A new medical center is breaking ground later this year. This project is a result of the City's efforts to promote redevelopment along the entire Salem Avenue corrider. |
Trotwood-Madison City Schools: See our Schools page for more details about the school district's $90 million investment in new facilities, the continuous improvement in school test scores, and our school district's pro-business community development mentality. |
Commerce Park: O'Danny Boy Ice Cream just completed construction of their new facility in the Trootwood Commerce Park. For more information on the advantages to locating in the Trotwood Commerce Park, contact Rhonda Finley. |
UTS Moves to Trotwood: United Theological Seminary relocated its main campus to Trotwood from Dayton in 2005. They plan to spend $40 million over the next 10 years on construction and expansion of the new facility. There have already been obvious economic benefits derived from their presence in our community. The UTS campus provides an off-site anchor to The Landmark and hosts a replica Wright Flyer, a first-class manuscript library (open to the public) a coffee shop/café, and regular art exhibits. |
PMG Ohio: Trotwood's largest manufacturing employer celebrates the sale of their 1-millionth part. Their 95,000 square foot facility, adjacent to the Trotwood Commerce Park, is the home of PMG technology development in the area of high performance components using PMG's DensiForm® technology. |
